Controlling Angel Inputs with Graph Edit Utility


1. Download and unzip Graph Edit utility.

2. Run Media Center and enter your regular Live TV mode.

3. Run Graph Edit (graphedt.exe) and click on "Insert Filter..." button:




4. Find and expand (click on "+") "WDM Streaming Crossbar Devices" category:




5. Select "Angel Crossbar" for channel 1, which is usually used by MCE in "Live TV" mode. As a check point look at the Filter Moniker string at the bottom. Channel 1 has "...pci..." string and cannel 2 has "...angel_ch2..." string. After selecting (highlighting) channel 1 crossbar press "Insert Filter" button:




6. After "Angel Crossbar" filter is inserted the "Insert Filters" window can be closed:




7. Right-click inside the rectangle of "Angel Crossbar" filter and select "Filter Properties...":




..."Angel Crossbar Properties" window will show:




8. First check-mark "Link Related Streams" check box. Then open input selection combo-box and select desired input. Press "Apply":



Note: There will be an approximately 3 second delay after "Apply" is clicked before preview video switches to selected source. This is due to the "Time Shift" buffer used by Media Center for pause live TV feature.


9. Then do Record in Media Center as usually.

Note 1: Remember to select the original video input back after you're done.

Note 2: This might not work if MCE decides to use second tuner for recording. In that case you can do the same procedure for channel 2. You will also need to re-plug your video/audio cables to channel 2.

Note 3: Just get Sonic MyDVD ver. 6.1 or above (do not use version 8) and be happy forever! One application - from capture to DVD burning!!!
